Orlando Magic Sign Undrafted Guard Alex Morales
Orlando, September 16, 2023 – The Orlando Magic announced today that they have signed undrafted guard Alex Morales to a Spread 10 contract.
Morales, 25, is 6-foot-6 and 220 pounds. He went undrafted after graduating from Wagner College in 2022.
In the 2022-23 G-League season, Morales averaged 6.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals in 30 games with the Lakeland Magic (now Osceola Magic). He also shot 47.1 percent from the field, 27.6 percent from beyond the arc and 73.3 percent from the free throw line.
Morales also signed with Puerto Rican club Osos de Manatí of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) in March 2023. The New Jersey native averaged 16.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.0 steals in 11 games with Manatí. In addition, he is shooting 54.8 percent from the field, 25 percent from three-point range and 70.2 percent from the free throw line.
Morales began his college career at Prince George’s Community College, where he spent two years. At Prince George’s Community College, Morales was a two-time NJCAA All-American.
Morales transferred to Wagner College in 2019. At Wagner College, Morales was named the NEC Player of the Year.
The Extended 10 contract is non-guaranteed and allows teams to waive a signed player without incurring top dollar. If Morales is waived by Orlando, he will be eligible to rejoin Osceola and play at least 60 days with a G League team, resulting in bonuses ranging from $5,000 to $75,000.
