Recently released news suggests that both Chelsea and Barcelona are working hard to try and sign Greater Paris striker Kylian Mbappe, with Blues boss Burley hoping to seal the deal himself.
The newspaper understands that Chelsea and La Liga’s Barcelona are the two clubs that are trying hardest to sign Mbappe (player plus cash). A source close to Paris Saint-Germain says Blues boss Burley is trying to personally arrange a deal for the French star, most likely on loan.
The deadline for Mbappe to activate his contract extension has now come and gone and he will not be able to activate the option to extend his contract with Paris Saint-Germain until June 2025. Sources in other media outlets have indicated that Greater Paris still believe that Mbappe and Real Madrid have reached an agreement, and that another Premier League side, Liverpool, are also trying to sign him on loan.
It is reported that Paris boss Nasser and Chelsea boss Burley have been in direct contact over Mbappe’s transfer, but there is a question of how to convince Mbappe to join the Blues, who will not be able to compete in Europe next season. Prior to this, Mbappe has rejected a huge offer from the Saudi league.
